Towels are a necessity in every household. But the question is what are we using as towels?
The answer to that question can be found in the towel industry. The towel industry has been using cotton, which is not sustainable. Cotton is grown with pesticides and fertilizers, which harms the environment. To make matters worse, cotton plants require a lot of water and energy to grow, which requires more resources than other materials like recycled plastic bottles or re purposed cotton.
But now there’s a new option for sustainable towels: Eco friendly ocean kind turtle friendly made towels from luxury cotton and recycled plastic bottles, 600gsm thick absorbent luxury cotton combined with re purposed cotton. These are are Oeko-tex towels standard 100. Meaning they have been tested and certified.
Don’t be put off by the ingredients, you really can’t tell they have plastic in them! Trust me, they are soft, absorbent and thick. Everything you want from a towel.
I’m super fussy when it comes to the linens I use at home, probably because I’ve had the benefit of working in the industry for a long time, and I have these sustainable Hand towels in ochre in my bathroom.
With today’s news about climate change happening much quicker than we thought, I would like to think that we can all do our bit to try and help, even if it’s 1 bath towel at a time.
